The Rose Within the StoneThere is, within this stone exterior, a rose. The Rose Within the Stone by Odinsgirl
It's petals soft as morning light on a downy field.
Long has this pure, immaculate thing yearned,
yearned for admiration, for the care it deserves.
But what vitriol is there to melt this stone?
Will the petals wither in such volatile ichor?
Where is my Michelangelo, my master sculptor?
Where is he that will free the rose from the stone?
If this rose were known by just one person,
if only one person could coax it out,
out from the carapace of stone in which it is imprisoned.
Out would this bloom burst, the stone to shatter.
